The Choctaw County Flea Market began in 2012 as part of the MSU Extension’s “Turning the Tide on Poverty” project. The flea market, which is held every Spring and Fall, offers families a venue where they can sell arts, crafts, yard sale items, plants, home-grown produce and more.
“The flea market is continuing to grow,” Juli Hughes, Extension County Coordinator in Choctaw County said. “People are able to sell a variety of items from handmade crafts to yard sale items to help raise money for their family. We are expecting around 25 vendors on April 7. We do not charge a vendor fee.”
The Flea Market will be open from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. April 7 in the Choctaw Regional Medical Center parking lot in Ackerman. There will be free games & face painting for children. Vendors will be selling plants, antiques, hand-crafted furniture, jewelry, clothing, household items, cosmetics, Rada cutlery, candles, monogrammed towels, stepping stones, baked goods, good food, and much more.
Vendors selling homemade foods including jams, jellies, baked goods, breads, etc., need to have them properly labeled according to State Department of Health guidelines. Guidelines are available online at
