The Mt. Vernon M.B. Church of Noxapater, MS held its annual Baccalaureate Service on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. The theme was “Continue to Keep the Faith” (Hebrews 11:1-3). Mt. Vernon is under the leadership of Pastor David Harris Senior and Sis. Rosie Harris. Rev. Harris also serves as Moderator of the Mount Olive Bethel Harmony District Association (MOBH).
Guest speaker was Sis. LaDisha Moore. She is a former graduate of Noxapater High School, East Central Community College, and The University of Southern Mississippi. She holds a B.S. and a M.S. in Special Education. She is presently working on a specialist in Educational Leadership.
The following graduates from Noxapater High School were honored: Yolanda Cooper (Valedictorian), LaBarett Carter, Marcella Cole, Myokio cole, Kolanda Cooper, Denerius Miller, Katavis ‘Malik’ Miller, Demaret Woods, and LaNautica Woods. In addition, Breanna Glass was recognized for graduating from Lane College with a B.S. in Science and Aleka Lynch for graduating from Alcorn State University with a B.S. in Mass Communications.
Pastor David Harris, Sr., First Lady Rosie Harris, Pastor Joe Glass, First Lady Essie Glass (Pleasant Ridge M.B. church), and Deacon B. Moore were also honored for their completion of a Bachelor of Theology from the New Foundation Theological Seminary.
