An aggravated assault on a security officer resulted in the victim eventually being transported to the University Medical Center in Jackson where he spent some time in ICU before being released to return home.
The incident occurred very early Sunday morning, May 5, at a club owned by David Goss near Highpoint Weir Road. The security guard, who works fulltime as a guard at Winston - Choctaw County Regional Correctional Facility, attempted to intervene in an altercation between a male and a female patron of the club, when he was attacked by the brother of the female, Jermaine Jackson, who cut the guard on the face and throat.
The guard was transported to Winston Medical Center ER, and then to UMC. Jackson turned himself in later that Sunday, to Constable Ed Hunt. Jackson was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; bond was set at $30K. He is out of jail on bond at this time.
