State Representative Joey Hood announced today that Choctaw County, Town of Ackerman and Town of French Camp were appropriated a total of $350,000 for infrastructure improvements throughout Choctaw County in the 2019 legislative session.
This funding will in part fund the re-paving of Cherry Street in the Town of Ackerman, paving East Sherwood OCL Road and money for sewage improvements for the Town of French Camp. The Town of Ackerman received $200,000, Choctaw County received $100,000 and the Town of French Camp received $50,000.
“The funding received from Representative Hood will help with the re-paving of Cherry Street in the Town of Ackerman and I appreciate his efforts in securing this funding said Mayor Tim Cutts." Town of French Camp Mayor Glen Barlow stated that “the funding appropriated by Representative Hood was critical and will allow the Town to make much needed improvements to it’s sewage treatment facility. Supervisor Greg Fondren stated “the funding received from Representative Hood will assist Choctaw County in paving the portion of East Sherwood OCL Road that is presently gravel and will now allow the residents in the Sherwood and Reform communities to travel on a paved road to Starkville.”
Hood says, "These projects are vital infrastructure improvements that will help all of the citizens in Choctaw County. I have enjoyed working alongside local leaders to provide this funding and I look forward to seeing it through to completion as it is another step towards our continuing efforts to make District 35 a better place to live, work and raise a family.”
