Please make plans to attend any and all of the services each day. The church members would also like to extend an invitation to the covered dish luncheon in the fellowship hall of the church, to be held on Sunday, July 28, immediately after the 11:00 am service. On Wednesday July 31 at 6:00 pm, all campers will gather at the picnic tables by the Arbor for the traditional closing pot luck meal. The public is cordially invited to participate in this meal and fellowship with the campers and visiting evangelists.
The visiting evangelist this year is Reverend Johnny Ray, Pastor of Cornelia United Methodist Church in Cornelia, GA. Reverend Ray is no stranger to Choctaw County, as he was born and raised in the Chester community. The music evangelists for the week are Buddy and Carol Erwin Smith, both Ackerman natives. Buddy is a retired United Methodist minister and currently serves as Senior Vice President of the American Family Association. South Union pianist, Sherry Black Griffin of Ackerman, will join Buddy and Carol to provide music ministry for the camp meeting services. Director of Children/Youth activities will be Lizzie Thomas of Ackerman. Lizzie attends South Union United Methodist Church and is active in the Youth Ministry of Ackerman First Baptist Church. Lizzie attends East MS community College. Robby and Ann Chambers of Tupelo will join with South Union church members to coordinate the children’s activities. Robby is also an Ackerman native and currently employed as Vice President of AFA Action, the Governmental Affairs Affiliate of the American Family Association.
Monday night, July 29, will be Youth Night at the camp ground. Special Music will be provided by the Hopewell Baptist Church Youth Choir from the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians. We would like to extend an invitation to all youth directors to bring their groups to participate in this night as we pray for hope and revival, not just for our youth, but for those all over the world who hold the keys to the continued growth and revitalization of God’s Church. Please contact Reverend Jerry Davis at 662-386-2927 or Lizzie Thomas at 662-285-7220 if your youth group would like to be a part of this wonderful service.
