The Nation's Weather for Tuesday, January 21, 2025
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A winter storm will spread snow and ice across the Gulf
Coast states tomorrow before moving into the Carolinas
overnight. Snow and ice can lead to slippery travel and low
visibility. Road conditions during the day will be rapidly
deteriorating. Just to the south, rain will be the primary
precipitation in South Texas and the Florida Peninsula,
where a few rumbles of thunder can occur. Meanwhile,
lake-effect snow will persist downwind of the Great Lakes,
particularly lakes Erie and Ontario. In heavy squalls, snow
can quickly accumulate and visibility can be dramatically
reduced. The rest of the nation will be primarily dry except
for a little snow in the northern Plains and northern
Rockies. Strong Santa Ana wind gusts will continue and
combined with dry brush can lead to an extreme fire danger.
