NATIONAL SUMMARY
A major winter storm will traverse the Tennessee Valley
tomorrow. Snow can be expected from the Great Lakes through
Tennessee. From Arkansas to North Carolina, ice will mix
with snow and rain before changing over to all rain along
the Gulf Coast states. Snow and ice will lead to extremely
difficult and dangerous travel in the Tennessee Valley,
especially along the Interstate 20 corridor. Snow showers
will coat the higher terrain in the Northwest, while rain
early will taper to showers for the lower elevations. Santa
Ana winds are forecast to continue early in Southern
California, leading to an extreme fire danger. In the
Northeast, there will be a persistent breeze along the
coast. Temperatures will be 5 to 15 degrees below average
across the southern tier of the nation.
