The Nation's Weather for Thursday, February 2, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Rising temperatures will allow ice to transition to rain by
the afternoon hours in northern Texas, southern Oklahoma
northern and central Arkansas and northern Tennessee
tomorrow. Farther north, dry air should prevent
precipitation. Temperatures elsewhere will stay high enough
for liquid precipitation, and rain can extend as far east as
North Carolina. Thunderstorms will turn locally strong in
southeastern Texas and central and southern portions of
Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. However, the biggest
threat will be heavy rain. Much colder air will move out of
Canada and into the Great Lakes and Northeast. Snow will fly
much of the day in the Upper Peninsula and northern and
central Lower Michigan. Snow squalls can expand across
upstate New York and interior New England overnight.
