The Winston County Mississippi State University Extension office is sponsoring a fun event later
this month with the intention of educating youth hunters. The Bucks, Bows, and Zeroes event
will be held on September 28, 2024 (the last Saturday in the month), and it will begin from 8:30
AM and end at noon.
The event will take place at the Legion State Park in Louisville. Youth bow hunters from
Winston, Attala, and Choctaw are encouraged to attend this free to the public event, but parents
should understand there is an entry fee to the park that day.
The fee to enter Legion State Park is $2 per person; however, those age five and under get into
the park for free.
A specialist from the Mississippi Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will cover a number of
topics, including deer movement patterns, the state of Mississippi game laws, bow hunting
strategies, and tips for trail camera placement.
There will also be tips on sighting in a bow.
All parents are encouraged to bring their young hunters for this great, educational opportunity.
For more information, parents may contact the Winston County Extension Office at 662-773-
