BATESVILLE, MISS. - During a recent awards ceremony, the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) recognized employees in District 2 (Batesville), which covers 17 northern Mississippi counties, for their years of continuous service to the agency in various roles including maintenance, administration and construction, among others. MDOT Executive Director Brad White, MDOT Chief Engineer Earl Glenn and the Mississippi Transportation Commission would like to thank these employees for their hard work and dedication to MDOT and the people of Mississippi.
26 employees were honored for their years of service at the ceremony. Mark Thompson, a Transportation Engineering Technician Supervisor with the Batesville Project Office, was recognized for 35 years of service.
“The five years in this group came here about the time Covid did, and you stuck with us through the thick and thin, I do appreciate that,” said Commissioner John Caldwell, Northern Transportation District. “Our employees are true professionals, and their valuable daily contributions allow for our continued successes.”
Mark Thompson began his career with MDOT in 1990, as a bridge inspector in the Holly Springs project office. He currently works as an Erosion Inspection Supervisor out of the Batesville office.
“It’s a great place to work,” said Thompson. “I enjoy talking to the people I work with, I enjoy getting out, looking at all the projects, meeting people in the community.”
Also recognized for their service were husband and wife team Randal and Andrea Box. Randal is a Transportation Engineering Technician Supervisor, and Andrea is a Transportation Engineering Technician Team Lead. Both have a combined 45 years working for MDOT and are based out of the Holly Springs Project Office. The couple first met in elementary school and reconnected while working at MDOT.
