Get holly and jolly and enjoy a hometown Christmas Parade and after-parade festivities Saturday, Dec. 7, in historic downtown Maben. A community Christmas tradition continues as Maben plans for its annual Christmas Parade and festivities. Festivities begin that Saturday at FJH Realty at 5:30 p.m. as the community is invited to a reception to honor the 2024 grand marshal: Dr Sue S i m m o n s . Refreshments, merriment and hometown Christmas cheer will be served up. The Christmas parade begins at 6:30 pm when the grand marshal declares the Christmas season to begin. This yearís theme is ìA Holly Jolly Hometown Christmasî and will feature Mabenís hometown East Webster High School Marching Band. The parade is graciously sponsored by Maben area businesses and prizes will be awarded to winning entries. Organizers encourage the entire community to get involved and come be in the parade. Groups, clubs, organizations, churches, families, individuals ó anyone who wants to come have fun can be in the parade. Decked-out floats, cars, trucks, jeeps, classic cars, motorcycles, ATVs, horses, wagons, tractors, gingerbread men and even Grinches are invited to get in the holiday spirit and get holly and jolly on historic Second Avenue. In addition to the parade, communitysponsored events will be returning for the ì A f t e r - P a r a d e Festivitiesî ó a new tradition that allows the community to enjoy fellowship and fun after the parade. Festivities such as free hot dogs on Second Avenue (while supplies last) and Grace Covenant Churchís annual Free Community Soup and Dessert night that is open to the entire community.
