“The world needs strong women. Women who will lift and build others, who will love and be loved. Women who live bravely, both tender and fierce. Women of indomitable will.” Amy Tenney
Recently three strong women came together and came up with a plan: Maben’s Christmas Market. These three ladies, over a cup of coffee at the newly opened bakery, developed a plan to have Maben’s first (to my knowledge) Christmas Market. After some discussing and planning, before you knew it, a dozen or more people wanted in on the deal.
So on Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 9, from 1-4 p.m., a whole host of businesses will be open offering refreshments and food tastings, new products, a petting zoo, door prizes, special sales and horse rides to any and all customers.
Swank on Main (boutique jewelry, purses and other accessories), Reclaimed Vintage and Antique Furniture (upcycled and painted vintage pieces), Olde Town Bakery (Christmas décor, home goods, boxed bakery items, Margaret’s BBQ sauce and Eady’s Honey), Peppie’s Place (homemade craft items and market fashions), Heaven’s Jubilee Farms (homemade soaps, petting zoos and horse rides), Southern Riv Designs (handmade jewelry), Boxes of Pearls (freshwater pearl jewelry), Southern Aerie (handmade jewelry, T-shirts) and Darling Made (modern farmhouse décor items) will be open for this new venture for small-town Maben. Some will be incorporated into other shops.
Some businesses are on Second Avenue and some are on Water Street at the Springer’s warehouse area.
So congratulations go out to Stephanie Contreras, Jennifer Williamson and Julie Fulgham (three strong women who are entrepreneurs in their own right) for putting their heads together and formulating a plan to host an open house party in Maben to show their customers how much they appreciate them for shopping at home first.
