As the school year ended this past week, the start of the summer horse show season began for Grace Christian School students Julius and Robert Culwell.
The brothers and their horses headed on the road with their first stop taking place this past weekend in Pensacola, Florida where the brothers competed at an American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) breed sanctioned horse show, the Northwest Florida Quarter Horse Association (NWFQHA) Beach Bash Horse Show. The Culwell brothers spent two days at the Escambia County Equestrian Center successfully competing with their two AQHA registered horses winning multiple circuit awards.
Older brother Julius won circuit champion in both youth and open pole bending with his 25-year-old AQHA mare How D My Valentine and won reserve circuit champion in youth ranch riding and circuit champion in youth ranch trail with his 17-year-old AQHA gelding Famous N Fancy.
Younger brother Robert also successfully showed How D My Valentine winning a circuit award in youth performance mares, youth and open barrel racing, and youth stake races. As members of the Mississippi Quarter Horse Youth Association, the Culwell brothers were proud to represent their state association at the Florida show and are looking forward to their next summer AQHA horse show.
