Another trip to the Big House was in order this week for the Louisville Lady Wildcat basketball team.
Coach Mitchell McCurry came into the week having a shot at winning his second Class 4A state championship in three years. It was set up by a quarterfinal battle that LHS had last Friday.
Taking on a tough South Pontotoc team at Itawamba Community College, the level of competition went up for the Lady Cats. Experience stood tall, however, with LHS coming away with a 41-37 win over the Lady Cougars.
With the win, the Lady Cats were set to take part in the semifinals of the 4A playoffs inside Jackson’s Mississippi Coliseum on Wednesday afternoon. The Morton Lady Panthers (23-5) were standing in their way and are the defending runners up in 4A.
The Wednesday night game took place after press time. If the Lady Cats took the win on Wednesday, they would take on the Choctaw Central Lady Warriors on Saturday at 2 p.m.
