When it comes to one of life’s most important events, many brides are looking for a not-so-conventional wedding venue. People are choosing outdoor venues for a number of reasons: natural lighting and scenery, unique décor opportunities, and – most importantly – cost.
When choosing to get married outdoors, couples often cite the natural landscape (which can often change with the seasons). An outdoor venue often requires little in the way of costly decorations – a beautiful lake or the beach in the background is often more than enough where décor is concerned. In addition, most outdoor venues seem to have a more personal feel than an indoor location.
Plus, outdoor venues often provide more space for guests and are often more accessible for family members with health issues. They are often all inclusive, and couples may host both the ceremony and a reception at an outdoor venue. Typically, these venues also cost less than an indoor location; less décor is needed as couples utilize the stunning natural beauty of the venue.
Winston and Choctaw Counties are home to outdoor wedding venues that the public might not be aware of – and they have so much to offer local couples looking for the perfect place to say vows.
In Winston County, the Nanih Waiya Community Park is in the midst of constructing a dedicated wedding venue. As of press time, the concrete slab has been poured for the new venue. Currently, people wishing to use the Community Park for a wedding venue have utilized the Community Center.
Just a few miles away on Enon Road is the Magnolia Pine Venue. The property offers a rustic barn and a lake, pergolas, pine tree canopies and a wealth of open space on which to host your nuptials. Receptions may also be held onsite.
In addition, the Community Park and Magnolia Pine venues are available for other important events – class reunions, graduation or senior class parties, birthday celebrations, and can also be the location of your rehearsal dinner event.
Yet another venue inside the city of Louisville is more than just a bed and breakfast. The Mason on St. Charles offers spaces for an intimate outdoor ceremony and a reception area. There are also multiple photo opportunities on the grounds. One caveat of choosing the Mason on St. Charles is the fact that inclement weather won’t ruin the day as the venue could be utilized for either an indoor ceremony or an outdoor wedding.
Both Legion State Park and Lake Tiak O’khata also offer space for all types of events, including weddings, receptions, and much more. At Legion State, the Lodge – a beautiful, historic building – can be rented by the public for all types of get-togethers. One can also double up on the facilities by also staying in a recently renovated cabin onsite in the park. These cabins may also be rented for out-of-town guests. At Lake Tiak O’khata, couples may say vows at a number of locations, whether it is in the picturesque gazebo on the lake or in one of the many rooms of the restaurant. The Lake is also a popular place for wedding receptions, family reunions, class reunions, and organizational meetings.
In Choctaw County, one of the most beautiful locations – Choctaw Lake – may serve as both a place to simply enjoy the outdoors, host a birthday party, or host an outdoor wedding. The pavilions of Choctaw Lake overlook the water, making a beautiful backdrop for memorable photos. These pavilions may be rented for a number of outdoor gatherings – club meetings, anniversary celebrations, or family reunions.
Both Winston and Choctaw Counties offer some hidden gems that locals may utilize for parties and celebrations of all kinds. Whether you’re looking for place to say “I do,” a birthday party venue, or just a place to have a quiet getaway, you can “stay local” and get everything you could dream of – all at home!
