In most communities across Mississippi the high school football season will be getting a little later start than usual this season. The MHSAA movesdthe start of its regular season back to September, but did allow for each school to have one scrimmage on Aug. 28, while the MAIS didn’t budget on its schedule, with regular games staring as early as Aug. 14, while most start on Aug. 21 In the three-county area made up of Choctaw, Winston, and Webster counties there is only one MAIS school. Winston Academy will kick off its regular season at Leake Academy on Aug. 21, after scrimmaging at Starkville Academy a week earlier. Choctaw County, Louisville, East Webster, Eupora, Nanih Waiya, and Noxapater all have scrimmages set for Aug. 28, while French Camp hopes to have one as well. Louisville hosts Noxubee County, East Webster plans to entertain Shaw, Noxapater hosts Eupora and Choctaw County hosts Pontotoc. Nanih Waiya is set to visit Union. FCA will travel to Starkville Academy, if SA can’t find a regular season game to fill that date. The MHSAA regular season starts the following week with Nanih Waiya getting started a day early by hosting Choctaw Central on Thursday, Sept. 3. The next night has Eupora visiting French Camp, Choctaw County hosting Calhoun City, Louisville hosting Columbus, East Webster visiting Vardaman, Noxapater traveling to Starkville Academy and Winston Academy hosting East Rankin.
