Louisville volleyball has qualified for the MHSAA 4A playoffs by finishing second in the three-team Region 4-4A. The Lady Wildcats are 2-2 in region play, with two wins against Yazoo City and two losses to Kosciusko. Louisville will open the playoffs on the road on Oct. 13 against the first place team from 1-4A. New Albany is the likely opponent, but the final standings for 1-4A will not be decided until after the final matches this week. Rachael Morley noted improvement in her first year as Louisville coach. “We have come a long way with our program. There has been a lot of improvement with communication on the court and just the basic skills. We're working together much better as a team.” Morley gave much of the credit to two seniors, Nakia Hogan for her setting and Nyletrice Jackson for her hustle and hitting. “She has learned how to snap, which is really good,” Morley said of Jackson's hitting ability. Louisville defeated Yazoo City in straight sets twice, 25-20, 25-17, 25-21 September 21, with 11 service points by Reginae Williams in the second set, and 25-18, 25-23 25-22 September 29. Jackson, Nakia Hogan, Jamiya Hogan and Audrianna Liddell served well in the match. Louisville defeated Columbus 25-21, 25-17, 25-27, 25-17 last week, and Winona 3-2 Monday. with a 15-3 victory in the decisive set behind 12 service points by Liddell. The losses to Kosciusko were 3-1 September 3 and 3-0 September 24, ending with 26-24 for Kosciusko in the final set. Louisville was set to play Columbus Tuesday.
