A difficult start to the schedule hasn’t brought any complaints from Eupora players and coach Amir Hunt.
The Lady Eagles are keeping the faith and they saw it pay off this past week with two wins in three games. It was a welcome sight after losing the first two games of the year and also falling in the first game of the week against Houston.
Against Houston last Thursday, Eupora got a hit to leadoff the ball game from Aubree Mason and they had just one hit the rest of the game. Houston would roll from there in a 12-1 victory.
As tough as it was going up against one of Class 3A North’s best teams, Hunt’s team went back to work on Saturday in the Ethel Round Robin. Eupora started the day with a 4-3 win over French Camp and ended it with a 13-3 victory over the Noxpater Tigers.
In game one against the Lady Panthers, Haley Farley was 2-for-3 fresh off of signing to continue her softball career with the Holmes Community College Bulldogs. Farley came back in game two against Noxapater and had two more hits with a home run.
Patience Bingham led the team with three hits in the game and the team had two hits from Addison Mason, Haylee McCrory, Ella Harrison and Mackenzie Reed-Wood.
Eupora did have a game rained out last week as they couldn’t host Nanih Waiya on Friday due to rain. They’ll be off for spring break and back in action as they start Class 2A, Region 2 play on March 17 against J.Z. George at home.
