Severe thunderstorms two weeks ago followed by a winter storm at the beginning of last week wiped out three games for the Louisville Wildcats but the teams are back on the court this week for a crucial stretch of games.
The defending Class 4A girls state champions of LHS struggled through the non-conference portion of its schedule but the team is starting to find its footing. After winning the first two Class 4A, Region 3 matchups, the team has three chances this week to strengthen their lead in the division.
On Monday and Tuesday, the Lady Wildcats took on Greenwood on the road and hosted Caledonia. It was the first meeting for the Lady Cats and Greenwood this season but will be a rematch against the Lady Cavaliers after LHS knocked them off earlier this month 51-45 on the road.
On Friday night, LHS (8-7) will take on Kosciusko on the road at 6 p.m. The Lady Cats won 51-32 the last meeting on January 9. Next Tuesday, Greenwood and Houston come to LHS to close out the regular season on Tuesday and Friday respectively.
The Wildcat boys team is ready to be at full strength as injured players are expected to be back this week and the unit will be replenished for the first time this season. LHS lost the first two Region 3 games but have a chance to get some wins this week and climb back in the race if they can take down Greenwood, Caledonia and Houston.
The Wildcats enter the week just 5-9 on the season with an 0-2 mark in Region 3.
