The Nanih Waiya boys had a good week on the basketball courts.
The Warriors won both games they played last week, beating Starkville Christian 60-38 and the held on to take a 58-57 win over Oak Hill Academy.
Nanih Waiya will return to play after the Thanksgiving break as the play at Eupora on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
No information was available for the Nanih Waiya girls team.
Nanih Waiya boys 60, Starkville Christian 38
The Warriors outscored the Cougars in every period and rolled to a 22-point win last week.
Nanih Waiya opened up a 16-13 lead in the first period and then outscored Starkville 15-10 to lead 31-23 at the half. Nanih Waiya continued to extend its lead in the second half, outscoring Starkville 16-10 in the third and 13-5 in the fourth to take the win.
Jacurious Hughes led a balanced Nanih Waiya scoring attack with 15 points. Preston Prewitt had 12 points whole Jake Vick had 11 points. Conner Hickman had nine points while Bryce Boler chipped in six points.
Nanih Waiya boys 58, Oak Hill 57
The Warriors held off a fourth-period rally by the Raiders and took a one-point win.
Nanih Waiya jumped out to a 20-12 lead in the first period but Oak Hill outscored the Warriors 18-10 in the second to tie the game at 30-30 at the half. Nanih Waiya retook the lead in the third, outscoring Oak Hill l17-10 to lead 47-40 going to the fourth. Oak Hill took the fourth period 17-11 but the Warriors held on for the win.
Jacurious Hughes led Nanih Waiya with 21 points while Conner Hickman had 14 points. Preston Prewitt had nine points while Bryce Boler chipped in six points.
