Two Noxapater Attendance Center softball players and three members of the NHS baseball team recently participated in the Magnolia Sports Association All-Star game. The individuals were nominated by their coaches, and they played in the Magnolia Grand Slam All-Star game in late June.
On the girls’ team, Senior Morgan Woods and Junior Jodie Wilkes were selected to represent NHS. “Both girls played well and were great representatives for the Lady Tigers,” said Coach Jodie Duran. Morgan pitched three scoreless innings and played shortstop and left field. Jodie caught all seven innings and threw out two on the bases. Both girls had a double and scored a run.
Coach Zach Kemp revealed that three of his baseball team members played in the boys’ All-Star games. Senior Kaden Carter, and juniors Bryton Yates and Braxton Daugherty represented the Tigers Carter started in left field; in the game, he went one for two with a single and scored a run. Daugherty played in left field as well; he grounded out and walked in his two at bats while scoring one run. Bryton Yates served as a catcher and pitcher, where he threw a runner out. He walked at both at bats.
Both coaches shared their praise for all five students on representing the Tigers in this game.
