The Nanih Waiya baseball team saw its season come to an end last week in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs.
The Warriors dropped two games to traditional power Taylorsville, falling 8-1 on Friday and 10-6 on Saturday.
Nanih Waiya finishes the season with a 15-8-2 record.
Taylorsville 8, Nanih Waiya 1
The Tartars built an early lead and cruised to a seven-run win over the Warriors on Friday.
Taylorsville scored two in the first and fourth innings and led 4-0. After Nanih Waiya scored a single run in the top of the fifth, the Tartars scored three in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Taylorsville outhit Nanih Waiya 11-6 in the contes. Caden McDaniel was 2-for-2 for the Warriors while Gavin Daniel singled, was hit twice and drove in a run. Eli Stanton doubled while Braxton Flake and Landon Wray each singled. Kaleb Davis scored Nanih Waiya’s only run.
Walt McLendon started on the mound and pitched all six innings for the Warriors, giving up eight runs on 11 hits and two walks while striking out two.

The Tartars took advantage of eight walks and took a four-run win despite being outhit by the Warriors on Saturday.
The game was scoreless through three innings before Taylorsville scored three in the fourth and two in the fifth to go up 5-0. But the Warriors scored two in the bottom of the fifth and three in the sixth to tie the game up at 5-5. But the Tartars plated five runs in the top of the seventh to go up 10-5. The Warriors added a run in the seventh for the final margin.
Nanih Waiya outhit Taylorsville 10-4 but committed four errors and walked eight. Kxxxx Massey was 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI while Gavin Daniel was 3-for-4 with a double. Jake Vick was 2-for-4 with a double while Kaleb Davis was 2-for-2.
Gavin Daniel started on the mound and pitched five innings, giving up five runs on three hits and four walks while Braxton Flake pitched two innings, giving up five runs on one hit and four walks while striking out two.
