As spring showers kept most youth indoors over Easter weekend, Louisville youth and Grace Christian School students Julius and Robert Culwell spent their Easter weekend in the show arena.
This past weekend the brothers kicked off their spring show season heading to the Lauderdale County Agri-Center in Meridian, Mississippi to compete in the Heart of Dixie Palomino Exhibitors (HOPE) Association sponsored Azalea Classic Horse Show.
Older brother Julius won high point youth exhibitor in the youth gymkhana classes and in youth ranch competition, while younger brother Robert won reserve high point youth exhibitor in the youth gymkhana classes and in youth ranch competition.
The brothers wrapped up the Easter weekend on Sunday at the show participating in a youth Easter egg hunt around the horse stalls followed by a HOPE sponsored cookout and trail ride. The brothers are looking forward to competing this June in another HOPE sponsored palomino and open horse show, the Southern Nationals Horse Show.
The upcoming show is a one day, three judged horse show on Saturday June 11th at the Pontotoc County Agri-Center in Pontotoc, Mississippi starting at 8 am. Julius, Youth President of HOPE, and Robert, Youth Vice President of HOPE, invite fellow 4-H youth members that are preparing for the State 4-H Horse Championships later that month to come to the HOPE show as the show offers several youth classes that will be seen at the state show. Youth interested in the upcoming Southern Nationals Horse Show can find information on the HOPE Facebook page.
