Louisville got its first baseball win of the season a couple of weeks ago over Philadelphia but the Wildcats couldn’t build on that in the form of wins last week.
LHS took on Jackson Christian, Biggersville and Alcorn Central in a trio of Spring Break games and came up empty. The Wildcats fell to 1-10 on the season with the losses.
Against Jackson Christian last Monday, the Wildcats lasted just five innings as they had only one hit and were shutout 10-0. It was a close ball game early on with LHS down just 2-0 through three innings, but an eight-run fourth did the damage and led to the run-rule win.
Hayes Caperton had the only hit for the Wildcats in the game.
LHS would also play Biggersville that day and found hits hard to come by yet again and pitching even tougher. The Lions had just seven hits but poured on a 12-2 win in another five-inning affair holding LHS to only three base knocks.
No one had multiple hits for the Wildcats in the game but Trey Eiland had a triple.
To close out the week on Wednesday, LHS played Alcorn Central and fell 9-5. The Wildcats were down 9-0 in that contest before trying to mount a furious rally in the seventh with a five-run frame but it was too much to overcome.
The Wildcats had four errors in the game but only two of the runs were unearned from LHS pitchers. Alcorn had a 2-0 lead through three innings when it blew the game open in the fourth with a five-run inning and scored two more in the fifth for good measure.
Caperton had two hits in the contest and an RBI.
LHS was scheduled to play Noxapater on Monday and will be back in action on the road against Class 4A, Region 4 team Kosciusko at 7 p.m. on Friday.
