The Nanih Waiya softball team got in three games last week and came away with one win.
The Lady Warriors dropped a pair of tight games as they fell 10-6 to Northeast Lauderdale and 9-7 to Ridgeland. They ended the week with a 15-2 blowout win over Independence.
Nanih Waiya was scheduled to host Philadelphia on Monday and play at Lake on Tuesday. They will host West Point on Friday to finish out the week.
NE Lauderdale 10, Nanih Waiya 6
The Lady Warriors couldn’t hold onto an early lead as the Lady Trojans overcame a six-run deficit to take a four-run win on Tuesday.
Nanih Waiya scored two in the first and four in the second and led 6-0. Northeast then scored two in the third, four in the fifth and finished with two in the sixth and seventh.
Nanih Waiya outhit Northeast 8-7 in the contest but committed 10 errors, leading to six unearned runs. Anna Grace Rigdon was 3-for-4 with a single while Addison Price was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI. Lexie Cowart singled and drove in two runs while Amelia Gully singled and scored two runs.
Addison Price started in the circle and pitched all seven innings, giving up 10 runs, with only four earned on seven hits while striking out eight.
Ridgeland 9, Nanih Waiya 7
The Lady Warriors weren’t able to overcome an early deficit and a seventh-inning rally fell short as they fell by two to the Lady Titans.
Ridgeland scored six in the first, one in the second and two in the third and led 9-1 after three innings. But Nanih Waiya scored two in the fifth and four in the seventh to take the win.
Nanih Waiya had 12 hits but committed 11 errors in the field. Carlee Presley was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored while Amelia Gully was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Anna Grace Rigdon was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs while Alyssa Price was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Lexie Cowart was also 2-for-4 with a double.
Addison Price took the loss in the circle, pitching all seven innings, giving up nine run with only two being earned on six hits and two walks while striking out seven.
Nanih Waiya 15, Independence 2
The Lady Warriors banged out 16 hits in a run-rule win over the Lady Wildcats.
Nanih Waiya scored five in the first, eight in the second and two in the third. Madelyn Vick was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and four RBIs while Addison Price was 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Carlee Presley was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Anna Grace Rigdon was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored while Lexie Cowart was 2-for-3 with three runs scored. Jade Chandler was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs while Bria Gregory was 2-for-3 with a double, triple and two runs scored.
Addison Price pitched all four innings for Nanih Waiya and gave up two runs on four hits while striking out three.
