The Noxapater basketball teams got their seasons under way last week.
The Lady Tigers split a pair of games as they beat Clarkdale 58-37 on Friday and lost 54-30 in the season opener.
The Tigers lost both games as they fell 48-45 to Clarkdale in a tight contest and then lost 82-55 to Choctaw County.
Noxapater will return to action on Friday as they travel to Clarkdale and will then be off for the Thanksgiving holiday. They will return to action after the break and host West Lowndes on Tuesday, Nov. 28 and then host Pelahatchie on Thursday, Nov. 30.
Noxapater girls 58, Clarkdale 37
The Lady Tigers outscored the Lady Bulldogs in each of the first three periods and cruised to a 21-point win for the first victory of the season.
Noxapater jumped out to an 18-10 lead in the first period and then outscored Clarkdale 16-9 in the second to lead 34-19 at the half. Noxapater then pulled away in the third and outscored Clarkdale 13-4 to lead 47-23. Clarkdale took the fourth period 14-11 for the final margin.
Nadia Bates led Noxapater with 15 points while Jodie Wilkes had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kaliyah Moore had 10 points while Morgan Woods had nine points.
Clarkdale boys 48, Noxapater 45
The Bulldogs held on late to take a three-point win over the Tigers.
Clarkdale outscored Noxapater 12-11 in the first period and each team scored 10 points in the second as the Bulldogs led 22-21 at the half. Clarkdale then outscored Noxapater 12-11 in the third and 14-13 in the fourth to pull away and take the win.
Shamarian Hardin led Noxapater with 19 points and seven rebounds while Renardo Hathorn had eight points. M.J. Harrison also chipped in six points.
Choctaw County girls 54, Noxapater 30
The Lady Chargers pulled away in the second half and took a 24-point win over the Lady Tigers last week.
Noxapater led 11-10 at the end of the first period and Choctaw outscored the Lady Tigers 13-9 in the second to lead 23-20 at the half. But Choctaw County then outscored Noxapater 11-5 in the third and 20-5 in the fourth to take the win.
Nadia Bates led Noxapater with 13 points while Morgan Woods had seven points and Jodie Wilkes added six points.
Choctaw County boys 82, Noxapater 55
The Chargers outscored the Tigers in every period and pulled away to take a 27-point win.
Choctaw County led 18-14 at the end of the first and then outscored Noxapater 20-15 in the second to lead 38-29 at the half. Choctaw then pulled away in the third and outscored Noxapater 28-13 to lead 66-42 going to the fourth. The Chargers then outscored the Tigers 16-13 in the fourth to take the win.
Shamarian Hardin led Noxapater with 21 points while Camarion Pankey and M.J. Harrison each had 10 points.
