If there is one Achilles heel for the Lady Chargers, the East Webster Lady Wolverines are it. The two teams have met up two times before meeting up Friday, March 31 in district play, and each time the Lady Chargers have fallen.
Unfortunately, last Friday’s matchup between the two would be no different. The Wolverines defeated the Lady Chargers 12-1.
The Lady Chargers began strong against the Lady Wolverines with Presley Scarbrough bringing in the lone run. But, in the third, fifth, sixth and seventh innings it would be all Lady Wolverines.
Against the Lady Wolverines, Mary Claire Salley was on the mound. Salley pitched for all seven innings. She had 16 hitters and the Wolverines brought in 12 runs.
But, during Senior night on Monday, the Lady Chargers bounced back against the Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes at the Glass.
In the first game, it was all Lady Chargers as they defeated the Lady Tornadoes 16 to 4. In the first game, Seniors Mackenzie Sanders and Molly Thomas each had two RBIs, Lexi Patterson and Abby Newlin had three, Maddie Sanders had two and Atleigh Hollingsworth also an RBI. The Chargers were solid at bat, closing out the first game in the fourth inning.
Mary Claire Salley pitched all four innings. Salley had four hitters and three strikeouts.
In the second game, the Lady Chargers defeated the Lady Tornadoes 6-1. In the second game, it was Salley who was a big stick for the Chargers with three RBIs. Patterson and Jalia James each had an RBI.
Salley pitched five innings, before Presley Scarbrough relieved her and pitched two. Salley had one hitter and eight strikeouts and Scarbrough had five strikeouts and no hitters.
