The Grace Christian Lady Eagles earned a huge Senior Night win over Winona in just three sets. The Lady Eagles dominated the first set 25-9; however, Winona got a lot closer in the second, winning 25-19. The Lady Eagles would then close out the match with a 25-14 win in the third.
"I was proud of the girls' energy in this game and aggressive offensive play," GCS Head Coach Jamey Willers said.
Mia Brownlee and Rivers Cagle each had six kills. Bailey Troyer led assists with 11. Susanne Dobbs played well defensively with 13 serve receives and four digs.
The Lady Eagles took a loss to Choctaw County in just three sets.
Cagle had five kills with no errors. Tina Clark played well defensively with 11 kills and eight serve receptions.
On Saturday, the Lady Eagles would participate in the Cotton Classic held in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The Lady Eagles began the day with a tough two set loss to North River Christian. They were then able to defeat Tuscaloosa Christian in two sets.
"This was one of our best played games all season," Willers said.
In the final pool play match, GCS would lose to New Life Christian. The loss would put GCS in the silver bracket, where they would begin with a win over Tabernacle Christian in two sets. Later, the Lady Eagles would once again face North River before losing in two sets.
"Our serves were on fire this weekend," Willers said, "We missed fewer serves than we ever have in all five games.''
The Lady Eagles will conclude their regular season this week, as they hosted Tupelo Children's Mansion on Monday, while having traveled to New Albany to face Heritage Christian and Victory Christian on Tuesday.
