The Grace Christian basketball teams took a week off due to the icy roads, however came back with a big conference sweep on Monday night over Amory Christian. Tonight will be senior night for GCS as they play host to Eagle Homeschool. This upcoming Monday, they will travel to Victory Christian (New Albany), before traveling to Kemper Academy on the following night. Next Thursday, the Tupelo Crusaders will travel to Grace for the final regular season game.
GCS did not reschedule the non-conference games that were canceled due to the conditions.
Lady Eagles:
The Lady Eagles continue to dominate conference play with a commanding 65-23 win over Amory Christian on Monday night. Olivia Hogue dominated, scoring 20 points and adding 15 rebounds to her performance. Mia Brownlee added 15 points, while Katie Skleton scored 12. Anna Rose Eaves scored nine points, while Thea Blaire had 15 assists. It was an all around dominant night for the Lady Eagles. “After having a week off for the weather, I was very pleased with how my girls played,” Lady Eagles Head Coach Talor Troyer said, “It was a good night and all of my girls played really really well.” The Lady Eagles are currently tied for first place in the conference with Starkville Christian.
Eagles:
The Eagles also had a big night on Monday with a 85-70 win over Amory Christian. Miles Brownlee put on a show with a 30 point performance. Jack Butler had a big scoring game of his own, adding 20 points to the Eagles total. Chase Allman had 15 points, while Braden Joy added 14 points. Bobby Cullwell added six points, while Max Peterson added two. “It was a great night,” Eagles Head Coach Charles Heard said, “We are hitting on all cylinders right now.” Heard really thinks things are turning around for this season, but knows his team will have to do their part to keep on going. “We have to continue focusing and continue our effort,” Heard said, “We have to continue the will to win.”
