Two runners who played a key role in French Camp winning the 1A girls state track championship were winners at the Mississippi Meet of Champions at Pearl High School recently.
Taylor Benoit, a senior, won the 800 with a time of 2:27.04. Freshman Lucy Littlejohn won the 3200 (12:33.59).
At the state meet, also at Pearl, Benoit won the 800, was fourth in the 400, anchored the winning 3200 relay team and the 1600 relay team that finished second.
Littlejohn won the 1600 and 3200, was third in the 800 and ran on the 1600 relay team that clinched the championship for French Camp.
The Meet of Champions is an invitational, open to any medal winner at state meets.
