Eupora had its girls and boys basketball seasons both come to an end at Calhoun City last week as the two teams fell in the opening round games at the Class 2A, Region 4 tournament.
The Eagles met their demise in a second matchup with Choctaw County in just a number of days. The second matchup wasn’t significantly different from the first. A huge second quarter for the Chargers built a big lead and they never looked back in a 65-26 blowout. That ended the season for the Eagles.
Eupora trailed 19-8 in the first quarter but was outscored 25-7 in the second to put the game away and allow for a running clock. Mark Pittman had 12 points to lead the way for Eupora who fell to 3-16 to finish up the year.
Along with the Eagles seeing their season end were the Lady Eagles of Eupora. A close first half between Bruce and Eupora couldn’t be replicated for the Lady Eagles as they would fall 60-39 to the Lady Trojans. Bruce led 26-20 at the half but ran away with it in the third quarter outscoring Eupora 17-6 in the third frame.
Loralee Jernigan led the team with 15 points.
The loss finished the year for Eupora as they went 6-15 this year.
