Head coach Ben Aldridge got his first head coaching wins this past week as the Eupora Eagles earned the first two wins of the year in a double header against Kemper County.
The Wildcats came to town and were dismantled in just three innings each game.
In game one, the Eagles came out and had a patient approach at the plate drawing 11 walks against the Kemper County pitchers. Eupora scored eight runs in the first, six in the second and got five more in the third to earn the run-rule. The Wildcats got two runs in the third but that was all as they managed just one hit off of Daniel Hawkins as he struck out five batters in 3.0 innings.
Eupora had four hits with Hawkins driving in two runs on his double. Tabb Powell had a hit and three RBI while Ames Conrad had two RBI as well. Ty Murphy, Powell, Conrad and Cullen Harrison all drew two walks in the win.
In game two of the double header, it was much of the same. This time, the Eagles walked 17 times in just two innings. They had 10 runs in the first and six in the second to win the game 16-0.
In three innings, Hunter Dorroh and Harrison combined for a no-hitter. Dorroh had two walks in 2.0 innings and struck out three.
There wasn’t much to hit in the game for the Eagles but Austin Britt got a hold of one and hit a home run in the game while driving in three runs and walking twice. Murphy and Hawkins walked three times, Powell, Conrad, Chris Robinson and Landry Winter also walked twice.
The Eagles (2-7) had two games scheduled this week during Spring Break playing at New Albany on Monday and Biggersville on Tuesday.
