The Chargers get another shot at the Coahoma County Red Panthers tonight at Itawamba Community College after battling against the Alcorn Central Bears at the Cobb on Saturday, Feb. 17.
The Chargers defeated the Bears 63-52 to move on to the Elite Eight, the goal is to make it to the Final Four and the Championship at the Big House at Mississippi Coliseum and bring the gold ball back to Choctaw County.
In the matchup against the Bears, Garrick Alston led the Chargers with 20 points, Caleb Cunningham added 16, Jakarius Weaver added 15, Treyvionne Woodard had eight points and Quayvion Lowery added four.
The two teams standing in between their goal of Jackson are the Red Panthers – and themselves – and their goal of breaking the “Choctaw County checkout.”
This isn’t the first time the two will faceoff as the Red Panthers and the Chargers met in Coahoma County last year. And the Chargers fell to the Red Panthers.
But, on neutral ground it’s anyone’s game.
