In the words of the rapper Drake, the Chargers and Lady Chargers were looking for revenge post season against their rival the East Webster Wolverines, while the Wolverines were wanting the same. This match up was weeks in the making after the last match up at the Cobb. And it all came down to the two meeting up for another matchup – this time in neutral territory in Lee County for the District Championship.
And if there was any question of who the better team is between the Highway 15 rivals – The Chargers are up on the scoreboard over the Wolverines in two sports. And the Chargers and Lady Chargers used district to send a shot back to the Wolverines – we didn’t take anything from you, MSHAA didn’t give us anything, we earned it.
Lady Chargers

Friday, the Lady Chargers got another chance at the Lady Wolverines for the district championship. The Lady Wolverines had the Lady Chargers on the ropes leading out of the first half. But, the second half proved to be very different as the Lady Chargers charged back, coming from behind. With the Lady Wolverines getting into foul trouble, the Lady Chargers were in a great position to take the game and the win.
And they did just that. But, the Lady Wolverines fought until the end, but couldn’t come back from the deficit.
Junior Jaraya Woodard won the Barnes Crossing Player of the Game from Magnolia Hoops. Woodard finished the night with 17 points.
And just like that, the tides turned as the Lady Wolverines poised to take the district, fell to their second district loss to the Lady Chargers.
