The Choctaw Chargers had an up and down battle over Spring Break but ended with a win over a good Bruce team.
Chargers 4, Hardin 9
The Chargers took on Hardin County, Tenn., over the break. They jumped out to a nice lead over Hardin, but Hardin got a rally started in the fourth inning and the Chargers couldn’t recover from it.
Chargers got on the board in the first as Caleb McCulloch brought in Jeramiah Miller on a single and Tate Miller brought in McCulloch on a double for a two-up lead.
The Chargers kept their pace with Hayden Tuck beginning on the mound.
The Chargers went with a three-pitcher combo with Tuck, Jack Hood. Overall, Tuck went three innings, struck out four and had two hitters, who brought in four runs. Hood pitched two innings, struck out five, had five hitters who brought in five runs.
At the bottom of the third, Jeramiah Miller was able to score again. But, in the fourth Hardin came back with a rally getting in four runs, making the score 4-3.
The Chargers couldn’t get any momentum at the bottom of the fourth and Hardin went up again in the fifth, making the score 5-3.
But the Chargers saw a little life in the bottom of the fifth as another score by Jeramiah Miller made the score 5-4. However, Hardin never lost their momentum and ended the game at the top of the sixth 9-4.
McCulloch had two RBIs and Tate Miller had one.
Chargers 3, Bruce 1
The Chargers were looking to bounce back after the loss to Hardin County and the Bruce game became the battle of the pitchers.
The Bruce game was a locked game, until the third inning. In the third inning, Seth Miller singled bringing in Jeramiah Miller and Jack Hood. That would be the only score the Chargers would get and would be all they needed to get the win over Bruce.
Bruce was able to get one score in at the bottom of the fifth but couldn’t push a sixth inning.
