Virgie Mae McMullen, 79, passed away September 18, 2021, at Diversicare Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center/North MS Medical Center, Eupora, MS. Service was held at Pilgrim’s Rest M.B. Church Ackerman, MS on September 25, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeffery K. McMullen; Pastor – United Fellowship Baptist Church Batesville, MS as the officiator (Rev. Ishmal D. Conner – Pastor). Visitation was held before the service from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Carter’s Funeral Home; Sherlia Carter – Owner, of West Point, MS was in charge of arrangements.
Born November 25, 1941, in Choctaw County to the late Rev. Wilson and Mary (Potts) McMullen, Virgie graduated from Webster County Training School, and is also proceeded in death by 3 sisters and 6 brothers. She is survived by her daughter; Angela McMullen (Starkville, MS); granddaughter; Karlie (McMullen) Brooks (Starkville, MS) two sisters; Louise (McMullen) Shelton (Eupora, MS), Betty (Rudolph) Smith (Boston, MA), two special nephews and two special cousins which she considered to be her own children; Anthony (Dana) McMullen (Cleveland, OH), Shaun (Alicia) McMullen (Atlanta, GA), Chanel (Mitchell) Hill (Fort Polk, LA) and Melvin (Penny) Potts (Hattiesburg, MS).
