Mrs. Mavis Marie Williams Swindle, 95, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.
A private family celebration of her life was held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel in Eupora, MS with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Choctaw County, MS.
Born on September 24, 1925, in Senath, MO, Mrs. Swindle resided at Magnolia Ridge Nursing Home in Gardendale, AL since 2005. She attended Montevista Elementary School until 1940 and graduated from Eupora High School in 1944. During WW11, she worked and lived at the Atomic City in Oak Ridge, TN where she was on the basketball team. She also worked in the shipyards in Pittsburgh, CA during WW11 as a welder. Mrs. Swindle enjoyed cooking and baking but was happiest working in her flower garden. She attended Berney Points Baptist Church in Birmingham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Huvis Swindle who passed away in 1995, her mother, Bera Fason McCain and stepfather, J. C. McCain of Eupora, MS; her father, Edward Williams of Antiock, CA; sister, Bertha Williams of Champaign, IL.
Survivors include her daughter, Jerel Sue Swindle Pace of Gardendale, AL; sons, Huvis DeWayne Swindle of Eupora, MS; William Eric Swindle of Kimberly, AL. She is also survived by her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
