Mrs. Barbara Hendrix Mathews, 79, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at her home in Louisville, MS. Graveside services were held 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 3rd, at New Hope Cemetery, with Mr. Steve Hendrix officiating. Porter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Barbara was born August 14, 1942, in Louisville, MS. She was a graduate of Mississippi University for Women, and was a teacher. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Durward Mathews, II; her parents, Iva and Talmadge Hendrix; a daughter, Hope Mathews; a son, Horace Durward “Sonny” Mathews, III; two brothers, Jerry Hendrix and Joe M. Hendrix.
She is survived by four sisters, Joy Childs of Louisville, MS, Rebecca Ellis of Louisville, MS, Linda (Randy) Childs of Arkadelphia, AR, and Sue (Charles) Quebedeau of Madison, MS.
