Webster county volleyball continues to gain some steam as the East Webster and Eupora teams work through a tough schedule and build toward the conference slate.
The Lady Wolverines hosted the Union Yellowjackets last week in a competitive matchup as they were able to come out victorious in a 3-2 match in five sets. EWHS followed that up by going on the road to take on a stout Hamilton team that had already taken three of four sets against them a couple of weeks prior.
The Lions came out strong again in this one and were able to get the season sweep with a straight-sets win, 3-0. The loss dropped the Lady Wolverines to 4-5 on the season and they were slated to take on Class 6A Grenada on Tuesday but that match has been cancelled.
For Eupora, the Lady Eagles started the season 0-5 but have now reeled off four wins in the past five contests. After knocking off Grenada the week before, Eupora faced off against them again last week and came out on top in a 3-1 match. They also dropped the second match of the week as they fell to Water Valley 3-0 on the road.
The Lady Eagles (5-6) had a weekend tournament cancelled in which they were expected to play Myrtle, Nettleton and Mooreville but they’re back in action this week as they host Water Valley on Tuesday and Neshoba Central on Thursday.
