Three generous grants have been awarded from the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund to support local programs and initiatives. One on those grants went to Friends of Law Enforcement #78, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local law enforcement agencies. This funding will enhance the capabilities and readiness of the Webster County Sheriff’s Department, enabling officers to better serve and protect the community. The grant provides for the purchase of cutting-edge infrared binoculars, which will allow deputies to conduct effective surveillance and search operations even in low-visibility conditions. Additionally, the funding will ensure that each patrol vehicle in the Sheriff’s Department fleet is equipped with a comprehensive first aid kit, allowing officers to respond immediately to medical emergencies encountered in the field. In support of health and safety, the grant also includes provisions for disposable gloves, blankets for providing warmth in emergencies, and crime tape to ensure proper scene management. These resources are critical for safeguarding the health and security of officers and the community members they serve. “The Webster County Sheriff’s Department works tirelessly to keep our community safe, and these resources will significantly improve its ability to respond to critical situations with the tools they need,” Friends of Law Enforcement #78 stated in a news release.
City Football Program Grant Eupora Economic Development, a 501(c)(3) organization, has announced the receipt of a $5,000 grant from the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund. This funding will be directed toward purchasing essential football equipment and supporting registration for underserved youth participating in the city football program, greatly enhancing resources and opportunities for young athletes. Enhanced Training and Performance: The addition of new, highquality equipment will empower the football program to offer an improved training experience. Young athletes will have the opportunity to hone their skills, boost their performance, and build confidence, contributing to a more competitive and well-prepared team. Grant Will Support Library
EED has also announced that it has received a $1,250 grant from the Weyerhaeuser Giving Fund to support and modernize the Webster County Public Library in Eupora. The grant will go toward enhancing the libraryís children's section and STEM resources, creating a welcoming and interactive environment for young readers and learners in the community. The funds will be used to purchase a variety of specialized items designed to enrich the educational experience and promote a love for learning among local children. This includes a comfortable child-sized couch, providing young readers with a cozy space to explore books and enjoy story time in comfort. Additionally, a new wet table will be introduced, allowing children to engage in hands-on sensory activities with water and sand, which fosters creativity, curiosity and tactile learning. In a significant move toward integrating advanced technology, EED will also be purchasing a modern 3D printer for the library. This 3D printer will open doors for local students and children to explore STEM (Science, T e c h n o l o g y , Engineering and Mathematics) concepts, offering practical and innovative learning opportunities that extend beyond traditional educational methods. The 3D printer is expected to be a valuable resource for projects, prototyping and creativity, inspiring young minds and enhancing the libraryís mission to provide dynamic learning experiences.
