Over the past eight years, United Way of North Central Mississippi has had its annual food drive to help feed neighbors throughout Choctaw, Oktibbeha, Webster, and Winston Counties.
From October 31st to November 21st, United Way of North Central Mississippi (UWNCM) partners with the Starkville Kiwanis Club, Starkville Community Church, and the Junior Auxiliary Louisville to conduct the United We Feed initiative.
Candy Crecink, Director of Community Engagement & Impact headed up the Winston project along with Sam Smith.
Through United We Feed, 24 local food pantries and programs are able to restock their shelves and support individuals and families throughout UWNCM’s four-county service area. Six of those pantries are in Winston County.
In Winston County, the United Way, along with Junior Auxiliary of Louisville and Anchor Club, collected a generous supply of food items during a November 2020 Food Drive. Donations filled six food pantries in Winston County. Winston Plywood & Veneer offered a monetary donation for the Food Drive andRotary Club of Louisville matched the WPV donation. Many others donated local to the project.
“We are proud to have support from many local businesses that also recognize the challenges our neighbors face in accessing food for themselves and their families,” shared Dr. Brittney D. Oliver, Executive Director of United Way of North Central Mississippi.
“United We Feed” is a community initiative held during the United Way of NCM's 2020 Campaign. United Way of North Central Mississippi understands the importance and value of working together and sees our community as TRULY UNITED.
