Matt Hillyer, Director of Engineering at Taylor Machine Works, Inc. recently announced three new members to the Taylor engineering team. “I welcome T. J. Hollis, Darren Miller, and Zack Mixon, that have joined our full-time staff after completing their engineering degrees at Mississippi State University,” stated Hillyer.
Hollis, a native of Lafayette county, completed his Mechanical Engineering degree in December 2019. He will work under the direction of Rob Fulton in the Engineering Support Group and is making immediate contributions in the area of hydraulic systems and support. Fishing, snowboarding and sports are a few of Hollis’ areas of personal interest.
Miller, originally from Macon, Mississippi, and an avid outdoorsman, enjoys hunting, fishing, baseball and golf. Miller earned his MSU degree in December 2019, in Aerospace Engineering. He, as well, is a part of the Engineering Support Group and already making contributions in electronics and control systems.
Mixon is working as a design engineer in the Front End/Attachments group under the supervision of
Todd Palmer. Zach is originally from Starkville, Mississippi and recently graduated with a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently training on drafting and modeling and learning attachment design from other experienced designers. Zach spends his spare time working on weekend projects with his dad, and his interests include attending MSU sporting events, hunting and fishing.
The Taylor Design Engineering department has 44 employees. The department is separated into disciplines specializing in attachment design, chassis design, powertrain systems, BEV systems, fluid power systems, electronics, vehicle controls, analysis, and testing and certification. The staff consists of Mechanical Engineering degreed personnel with a wide range of skills and capabilities, almost half of whom are registered professional engineers. All personnel, including engineers, designers, draftsmen and support personnel, hold over 660 years of combined experience in the materials handling industry and forklift design.
