At approximately 9:16 p.m. this past Friday, Louisville Police officers responded to the report of a shooting in the parking lot of Ivy Apartments on Ivy Avenue.
Malik Hudson, 23, of Houston, Texas was allegedly shot by Michael D. Jones, 40, of Gulfport, Mississippi, while trying to exit the parking lot.
Hudson turned north onto Ivy Avenue, ran off the right side of the roadway and collided with a utility pole. Upon arrival LPD officers secured the scene and Hudson was transported to Winston Medical Center and then airlifted to University Medical Center in Jackson with gunshot wounds to the head and back.
At approximately 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Hudson succumbed to his wounds and died.
Jones had already left the scene by the time officers arrived, but turned himself in at Louisville Police Department at around 1:30 p.m. Saturday where he was arrested and charged with murder.
Jones had an initial appearance before Louisville Municipal Judge David Wilson this past Monday afternoon and is being held at the Winston-Choctaw Regional Correctional Facility under a $500K bond.
