The Louisville Municipal School District held a special called meeting on March 14 to declare a state of emergency and to extended the Spring break for the district until March 20.
LMSD Superintendent Randy Grierson reviewed several ideas and closure proposals with the LMSD Board of Trustees.
Grierson noted his was concerned about every student in the district as well as staff both certified and noncertified. Grierson read part of the emergency policy that outlined that the district could pay all the staff during the loss time.
The board approved the extending of Spring break to March 20 with a review on March 20 in another special meeting if needed to extend.
Grierson also requested the board approve grab and go lunches for students to pickup at the school.
After a lenghty discussion, the board voted to fully close the schools and not do a lunch program with a review of possibly doing one if the schools closed for much longer.
In the Supervisors Board meeting the followign Monday, Grierson recognized Todd and E.L. Vowell fo Vowells Marketplace for providing a breakfast and lunch snack to all students who needed it.
Board members agreed to plan and move forward on a week-to-week basis. The Board will meet later this week to reevaluate the situation.
Winston Academy reported that their Spring Break is being extended for as well to March 20 and all athletic and extracurricular activities have been suspended.
Grace Christian School also extended its Spring Break until March 20 following the Governor’s State of Emergency.
