The Mathiston “Roosters” make the yell ring for the hometeam. - R. C. Crow of Maben visited his daughter, Mrs. Ruth Bailey, Sunday. - Mrs. W. R. Scott has been visiting her mother at Stewart this week.
Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Gillis and baby visited J. W. Gillis and wife Sunday. - May Pinson of Ackerman passed through our town en route to Drew Tuesday. - District Atty. T. L. Lamb passed through en route to Ackerman to attend court Sunday. - We regret to know of the serious illness of E. L. Roberts. - Mrs. J. C. Wiggins of Eupora has been visiting her daughter Mrs. R. E. Kemp this week.
W. R. Scott is attending the meeting of the Railroad Commissioners in Jackson this week. - G. E. Kernodle will leave in a few days to take the Itta Bena agency for the Southern Railway. - Mrs. P. B. Trotter and little son, Powel, Jr., are visiting their parents at Black Hawk this week. - J. T. Melton, tax assessor of Choctaw, was in our town assessing taxes Tuesday and Wednesday. - H. O. Starnes has just returned from a trip to New Mexico. Mr. Starnes seems to be very favorably impressed with the Western country.
Dr. Watkins from near Philadelphia is visiting his brother, J. M. Watkins, who is very ill this week. - We are glad to know that Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Carrol’s baby is getting better of its attack of erysipelas [a bacterial infection of the upper dermis that causes a rash identified by well-defined areas of bright red, inflamed and rough or leather-like skin]. - J. W. Wilson reports that there was a kind of unusual yell in town Tuesday night. Perhaps it was the Gobblers yell. - J. H. Pierce and little son, Harlis, left Tuesday to take a trip to the West where he will visit relatives and look over the Western country.
CUMBERLAND CULLINGS [By Violet]: Mrs. C. J. Norris of Maben spent a few hours here Thursday. - Quite a number of our young people attended the singing at Blythe Creek Sunday afternoon. - W. F. Hawkins, H. L. Bradshaw, I. C. Hester, and E. L. Arnold went to Mathiston Saturday. - Miss Martha Vaughan is visiting relatives in Reform this week. - L. D. Hawkins went to Mathiston Saturday.
Several of the “Sherwood Band” went to Fellowship Sunday. - Little Clara and Auther Norris, who has been staying with their aunt, Mrs. Hester, returned to their home at Clarkson Thursday. - Mr. Sim Fondren went to Mathiston Thursday - Misses Nellie and En-e Arnold visited their brother, J. C. Arnold, Saturday. - A crowd from Sherwood went fishing Tuesday. - Hal Barton of near Fellowship was one of our Sunday visitors. - Mr. Charlie Fondren and family moved to Sherwood Monday. - Mr. Charlie Hester went to Mathiston Thursday. - Miss Andre Kilpatrick visited her uncle, Mr. Jim Arnold, Monday.
