LOCALS AND PERSONALS: Rev. W. L. Anderson returned Tuesday evening from an extended visit to his father’s family in Desoto county. - J. A. McKinnon, the courteous Cashier of the Bank, was of the number this week to hand us the cash on subscription to the RECORD. We are glad to state that from the first of Ackerman Bank has had the co-operation of all our people and to the splendid business qualifications and the untiring efforts of J. A. McKinnon to give its customers a good service is due in large measure his flourishing business.
Elder B. K. Watson of Faber was in town last Friday evening and handed us by cash for twelve months subscription to this Journal. Elder Watson is one of the true men of the country and one of the ablest divines of the Baptist communion in this section. He has a monthly appointment at Long View and passes through Ackerman every month en route taking the train at this point. We hope brother Watson will always appreciate the RECORD as highly as we regard him.
Mrs. W. L. Anderson and Miss Ella Oakley of Chester spent Tuesday in Ackerman. - The protracted meeting which began at the Methodist church last Thursday night is in progress as we close our forms. Rev. D. L. Cogdell of Louisville came in Monday and has been doing the preaching since. He is an earnest and consecrated minister and his preaching well received by good congregations and considerable interest manifested on the part of the people.
For the occasion of the Confederate Veterans Reunion, Louisville, Ky., May 30 to June 3, 1900, the Illinois Central Railroad offers a very low rate for the round trip (open to the public).
