A Eupora man has been charged in connection with a shooting in which a woman was hit in the leg. A city officer arrested Daryl Lamont Redd, 38, on July 5 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Redd, 38, was released from the Webster County Jail later that day pending an initial appearance at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Eupora Municipal Court. The shooting occurred about 1:15 a.m. July 5 at 208 Dunlap St., according to Webster 911 reports and an affidavit filed by Jordan Alexander Gaston. That is the address for MAPS pool hall and convenience store. Gaston alleges Redd said, “I’m about to kill him” and fired a rifle at him, missing and hitting his aunt, April Stevenson, in the leg. Police Chief Gregg Hunter said the shooting remains under investigation. A family member said Stevenson underwent surgery at North Mississippi Medical Center and was released last Friday. The family member said she goes back for another surgery this Friday. Other Felony Arrests The Webster County Sheriff’s Department released this information on recent felony arrests made in the county: On June 22, a vehicle was broken into on Highway 15 north of Maben. The culprit took three credit/debit cards and attempted to use them at a local business. An investigation of the crime led to the July 1 arrest of Joshua Poyadou, 35, who was charged with two counts of auto burglary. On July 5, deputies made contact with Edward Smith at a safety checkpoint. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and a felony amount of methamphetamine was discovered. Smith, 46, was charged with felony possession of meth and six misdemeanor offenses. About 9 p.m. July 7, Webster County deputies and the Mathiston Police Department conducted a search warrant in Mathiston. The search warrant led to the recovery of stolen items that were taken in a string of auto burglaries in Mathiston during the holiday weekend. The warrant also led to the arrest of James M. Flowers, 57, who was charged with receiving stolen property, felony possession of controlled substance and failure to comply. A 25-year-old female with him was charged with possession of paraphernalia. Flowers remained in jail as of Monday morning in lieu of an $11,000 bond. The female was released on her own recognizance on Friday. The county jail docket shows that the night before, on July 6, a Mathiston officer arrested James M. Flowers II, 20, on charges of auto burglary, burglary and trespassing. Additionally, on Thursday, deputies responded to a call on Savannah Lake Road involving three missing children. Shortly after, all three children were located and returned safely to their homes, according to the sheriff’s office.
