Message from Grace Christian:
At the request of Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves, Grace Christian School will extend the Spring Break school closure through Friday, 03/20/2020. The closure effects the Daycare, K3-12, all athletic events, and all extracurricular activities. Students should not report to the school on Monday but should be prepared to begin classes later in the week using alternative methods. It is uncertain at this time if the closure request will be extended past next Friday.
The GCS Board of Directors and GCS Administration has been anticipating a necessity to have a school closure in response to the COVID 19 Coronavirus Outbreak at some point but are now accelerating our “Plan B” implementation. Plan B will include several different age-appropriate instructional methods coordinated through our RENWEB School Administration platform. In some cases, parents will be asked to assist students in their learning activities. Working together we can minimize the effect of the closure period.
Faculty should report to the Crawford Gymnasium on Monday, 03/16/2020 at the following times: 8:00 (K3 – K5); 9:00 (1-6); and, 10:00 (7-12) to meet with Coach Morgan and finalize/complete preparation for use of the alternative delivery process.
Students and Parents will be afforded time on Tuesday, 03/17/2020 to pickup all textbooks and materials that students will need to participate in class activities to be posted to RENWEB later in the week. Be watching on Monday as the hours of availability will be posted. Families that do not have Internet access should talk with their teachers about alternative arrangements as it anticipated that this outage may extend or reoccur prior to the completion of the school year.
Students should anticipate instructions and assignments via RENWEB later in the week. These will be preceded by email notification to all parents.
Although we will not be having campus activities, the needs of the school continue to accrue. Faculty, staff, and administration will continue to work, even in alternative locations, to support your student’s educational opportunities. It is important that we seek to be faithful in all our obligations supporting the school and the employees.
At this time, we do not know the extent impact and impact of COVID-19 on our society, community, school, or families. As Believers though we are confident in the provision of our Lord Jesus Christ and know that He will guide and direct us to the outcome that will glorify Him. We encourage you to pray for our Nation, State, Community, School, and the GCS Family during these uncertain days.
The Grace Christian School Board and Administration
