Public buildings, schools and other facilities in Webster County have enacted various preventive measures because of concerns related to the community spread of coronavirus. These are among the changes that have been announced:
Courthouse
The Webster County Courthouse in Walthall will have the front entrance open for citizens that need access to the county offices.
However, only one customer permitted at a time, so call to ensure you will not have a long wait or that it is something the offices can help you with over the phone.

Sheriff’s Department
At this time the Webster County Sheriff’s Department is not allowing any outside traffic in its offices aside from employees and law enforcement only until further notice.
The department asks that people who have any questions, concerns or need its assistance to call 258-7701.
“During the COVID-19 pandemic our deputies, officers and others who work in law enforcement and public safety face very special challenges along with many others,” the sheriff’s office stated. “We’ve made this decision to try and protect our employees and inmates at all costs. With that being said, we are still enforcing the laws of our county and state as always.”
City Facilities
Eupora Police Chief Gregg Hunter issued this statement to all Eupora citizens:
“Due to the current situation with the coronavirus all city ballparks will be closed until further notice. Also all municipal building lobbies such as City Hall (258-2291) and the Police Department (258-4121) will be closed to the public until further notice.
“Any business will be conducted over the phone. The City Hall dropbox will remain open. Police officers will remain on duty 24 hours a day seven days a week and will respond in person to any call for service.”
Library
The Webster County Public Library in Eupora is closed to the public until April 17. The librarian will be in office from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Wednesday. Call 258-7515 if you need a book or other assistance. Books can be brought to one’s car.
Schools
All public schools in Mississippi remain closed until April 17 under order of the governor.
According to a tweet by Eupora High School, the Webster County School Board has voted to postpone all after-school activities including proms, banquets and field trips until further notice.
“We at Eupora High School are evaluating all options for these once-in-a-lifetime events for our students and adopt to the novel crisis,” EHS stated.
Wellness Center
North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora and Mid South Rehab Services Inc. have announced the closing of the Eupora Wellness Center until further notice because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is to ensure the safety of Wellness Center patrons and employees.
