A church plans to host a community event for the citizens of Eupora and the surrounding areas during Labor Day weekend. Pastor Nathaniel Rios of Wellspring Community Church presented a proposal for a tent revival (“Bringing Community Together Event”) to Mayor Lamar Dumas and Eupora Board of Aldermen on July 6. “We believe that building up our community during uncertain times, such as these, is the catalyst for strengthening us a community and getting us through, together,” the proposal states. Aldermen voted to allow the church to host the free event, which will be Sept. 4 from 6-8 p.m., Sept. 5 from 5:30-8 p.m. and Sept. 6 from 6-8 p.m. in the city-owned Garan parking lot on the south side of Government Avenue. According to the proposal, an open-sided tent that facilitates 200 people will be set up in the lot. The team will provide parking assistance and security for the event, and the church has committed to properly cleaning the space efficiently afterwards. The church said it will ensure proper health and safety measures are followed during the event. Proper sanitation and social distancing will be enforced. Event Schedule The three-day event will have a different focal point each day, with youth, local heroes and faith-based community each being highlighted: Friday, Sept. 4 — Youth • Music • Speaking • Activities Saturday, Sept. 5 — Local Hero/Remembering Mr. Billy Hill • Memorial video • Concert • Speaking Sunday, Sept. 6 — Faith-Based Community • Music • Speaking Wellspring Community Church is based in Oxford, with the Eupora campus located in the former Eupora Electronics building at 624 W.
